Advocating for Healthy Transit – The Clean Train Coalition
The Clean Train Coalition represents the communities along the rail corridor. We believe that a healthy environment and vibrant neighbourhoods depend on smart investment in public transit infrastructure. We represent the communities of Weston, Mount Dennis, Carlton Village, Liberty Village, the Junction, Sorauren, and Brockton, each of which will be seriously and detrimentally impacted by the construction and operation of this project.
We are working to encourage Metrolinx to:
- Use clean-running, quiet and light weight electric trains
- Maintain and enhance neighbourhood connections
- Create accessible and affordable transit for everyone
This is not a NIMBY (“Not In My Back Yard”) lobby; we advocate for improved and truly sustainable transit and transportation options for all, the nurturing of vibrant community life along the route, and the maintenance and improvement of healthy physical environments for all citizens, including children and elders. We are working on behalf of all of the people living along the rail corridor – and throughout the City of Toronto – to improve the Metrolinx project.
